Life Update
Loose skin & nothing fits
Nobody warned me about the loose skin.
I’m a Manhattan girl on a GLP-1 journey and my skin got the news last.
I want to be real with you for a second. I used to be almost 400 pounds. I’m in the 220s now. And the loose skin is happening. We are talking face. We are talking body. We are talking my arms looking at me like — doll, what is happening.
Listen.
I had two choices. Spiral about it. Or build a protocol.
You already know which one I chose.
Loose skin is not failure dolls. It's documentation. It's your body showing up for you in real time. And I am treating it accordingly.
I have a full routine now. Drugstore to clinical. Face and body. Everything from the Cetaphil body cream Mariska Hargitay represents — rich, fragrance free, barrier support for the whole body — to the L’Oreal Revitalift line that’s doing real work on my face. I’m not hiding what’s happening. I’m treating it.
Everything I’m using is linked here: What I Use So My Skin Doesn’t Sag.
And then nothing fit.
…and this was not in the budget.
Which puts me in a very specific pickle when it comes to my wardrobe. I have a career. I have SXSW in less than two weeks. I cannot run around Austin in clothes that are too big and frumpy.
But I’m also not trying to blow a bag on a whole new wardrobe right now. Because who knows what size I’ll be in six months.
So here’s what I did instead.
I took my favorite skirts to the best tailor in the city. (Hi, Michelle!). And then instead of buying a whole new capsule wardrobe, I decided to rent.
I fired up my Rent the Runway subscription.
Listen, dolls. Our “in-between” bodies deserve to be dressed beautifully. Not put on hold… and not drowning in things that no longer fit while we wait to arrive somewhere.
Rent the Runway is my easy, budget friendly way to stay stylish while my body is still figuring out where it’s landing.
Here’s my latest clothing rental edit!
Where we are in the journey:
→ We’ve talked about the stomach nobody warned me about.
→ We’ve talked about the skin that got the news last. We’ve talked about the wardrobe that stopped fitting all at once.
Next we’re talking about my knees. Which have a lot to say about Austin.
Stay with me dolls. We’re almost there.
